Registration categories
What are the different categories of registration under the PVP Act?
Under Section 19 of the PVP Act, the following registration categories apply:
- Professional Valuer
- Professional Associated Valuer
- Candidate Valuer
- Candidate Single Residential Property Assessor
- Single Residential Property Assessor
These categories determine qualification requirements and scope of professional practice.
Professional Valuer (Pr Val)
What are the registration requirements for a Professional Valuer (Pr Val)?
To register as a Professional Valuer with SACPVP, you must submit:
- Completed application form stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths (Item 9 & 10)
- Certified copy of a 4-year accredited Real Estate qualification with transcript
- Supervisory letter confirming valuations were completed under mentorship
- Practical Workschool Certificate
- Submission of a valuation report with completed Item 11.1 experience matrix
- Certified copy of ID
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Registration and annual fee (payable once Pr Val board exam is passed)
Candidate Valuers who have been registered with the Council for 2 years or more and hold a 4-year accredited qualification may qualify to write the Professional Valuer exam if their score is sufficient.
Professional Associated Valuer (Pr AVal)
What are the requirements to register as a Professional Associated Valuer (Pr AVal)?
The following documents are required:
- Completed application form stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths (Item 9 & 10)
- Certified copy of accredited Real Estate qualification with transcript
- Supervisory letter confirming mentorship
- Practical Workschool Certificate
- Submission of valuation report aligned with Item 11.1 experience matrix
- Certified copy of ID
- Certified copy of matric certificate
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Registration and annual fee (after passing Pr AVal board exam)
Registration as a Professional Associated Valuer may include restrictions depending on the application.
Candidate Valuer
How do I register as a Candidate Valuer?
To apply for Candidate Valuer registration with SACPVP, you must submit:
- Completed application form stamped by a Commissioner of Oaths (Item 9 & 10)
- Certified proof of enrolment in a Real Estate qualification
- Certified copy of qualification and transcript (if applicable)
- Supervisory letter
- Proof of payment for non-refundable application and registration fee
- Certified copy of ID
- Certified copy of matric certificate
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Single Residential Property Assessor (SRPA)
What is required for Single Residential Property Assessor (SRPA) registration?
For Single Residential Property Assessor (SRPA) and Candidate Single Residential Property Assessor (CSRPA) registration, the Diploma in Real Estate offered by CPUT is relevant.

Board exams
Do I need to pass a board exam to become a Professional Valuer or Professional Associated Valuer?
Yes. Both Professional Valuer (Pr Val) and Professional Associated Valuer (Pr AVal) applicants must pass the relevant SACPVP board examination before registration and annual fees become payable.

Certified copies are required for:
- ID document
- Qualification and transcript
- Matric certificate (where applicable)
- Proof of enrolment (Candidate Valuer)
All certifications must be valid and properly stamped.
Fees & charges
What is the SACPVP Administration Fee for Re-Registration?
The Administration Fee (Re-Registration) for 2025/2026 is R 1 225.
This fee applies when a registrant needs to re-register with SACPVP.
How much does a Letter of Good Standing cost?
The Letter of Good Standing fee is R 300 (2025/2026).
This letter is often required for professional verification or compliance purposes.
What is the fee for a Pre-Exam Workshop?
The Pre-Exam Workshop fee for 2025/2026 is R 1 800.
This workshop assists candidates in preparing for examinations.
How much does it cost for Remarking of a Script?
The Remarking of Script fee for 2025/2026 is R 2 500.
This fee applies when a candidate requests a formal remark of an examination script.
What is the cost for Advertising on the SACPVP Website?
The Advertising on SACPVP Website fee for 2025/2026 is R 500.
This applies to advertisements placed on the official SACPVP website.
What is the fee for Viewing or Reviewing of an Exam Script?
The Viewing/Reviewing of Script fee for 2025/2026 is R 4 480.
This allows candidates to formally review their examination script.
What is the cost of the Practical Workschool (4–5 Day Attendance)?
The Practical Workschool (4–5 day attendance) fee for 2025/2026 is R 8 500.
This fee applies to full attendance of the Practical Workschool programme.
What is the fee for the 3-Day SRPA Practical Workschool?
The 3-Day SRPA Practical Workschool fee for 2025/2026 is R 4 500.
This applies specifically to SRPA candidates.
